helping neighbors. In my opinion (as well as the many individuals that have benefited from it) the use
of a community service directory helped accomplish that. When I took over the role as Editor I made
it clear to Seabreeze that I felt strongly about a FREE service directory. While they weren’t
enthusiastic about it they did agree to it. I am certain they had no idea how popular this service
would become. Now after almost two years of providing this service they have decided that all good
things MUST come to an end. Their primary purpose for providing the paper is as an advertising tool
and they felt that the free listing infringed on that ability. Furthermore since they do not back charge
cost of mailing to the Heights, they feel they have more say in overwriting content in our
~Refusing to give up on such a valuable tool I have decided to contract with Seabreeze for a full
page of advertising thus allowing us to continue to provide this opportunity to our neighborhood.
While unfortunately it can no longer be done so without cost to us, by committing to a full year and
an entire page we will be able to offer this service at a minimal charge to our residents.
~To simplify the process I have contracted through the non profit agency that I run- Lice Solutions
Resource Network, Inc. (in other words I have become responsible for all cost of doing this). My
hopes are that this responsibility can one day be turned over to the Friends of the Heights, however
first we must prove that it is self sustaining and naturally it must be voted on and approved for by the
board. Therefore for now we will provide service through the non profit to avoid unnecessary
legalities that might otherwise occur if done in any other manner.
~What we have worked out is that the listing will continue as before- with a listing of services and
those that are providing it. (ex- Pool Service, Cleaning Service, Painting, etc and then the name
and number of individual (or company) offering it. This offer will continue to be available only to
Heights residents. We will also continue to offer at no charge to the children- such as kids providing
babysitting or dog walking services.
In any case for those individuals still seeing the benefit of sharing their services with their neighbors
(and mind you we will continue to encourage our neighbors/readers to support their neighbors) the
cost is as follows-
In line service directory listing- name & number under business category
$15.00 per month, $75.00 for 6 months, $120.00 for year.
Display ads on our Heights Page are (at a monthly rate)-
Bottom banner (across bottom of page) $75.00 for the month
Column ad- 2” business card size- $35.00 month (180.00- 6 months) (300- 12 moths)
Column ad- 1/16th page- 3” size - $60.00 month (330.00- 6 months) (600- 12 months)
Column ad- 1/12th page – 4” size - $80.00 month (450.00- 6 months) (800- 12 months)
*all display and column ads include free In line listing
As you can see a 12 month in line service directory listing allows you to list at as little as $10.00 a
month. It’s hard to find advertising for less!! This cost breakdown will allow us to safely pay for
contract period while maintaining affordability among our neighbors.
In addition to this we will have one monthly sponsor where we will provide a “banner ad” across the
bottom of the page- thanking that sponsor and promoting their business or service. This fee is 75.00
per month (well below the cost to advertise in this amount of space) this is a first come first serve
opportunity. Should any month not be contracted and paid for by another individual, Lice Solutions
will utilize that space. My hopes are to fill this each and every month allowing us to continue to prove
that we are truly a neighborhood that supports each other.
