The importance of backing up

~ WINDOWS VISTA-wait or upgrade?

  By Scott Mielentz

It’s been a year since Windows vista has been launched.

I have spent countless hours uninstalling vista and reinstalling XP for frustrated users. Windows Vista is massively bloated. The install requires ~6+ Gigs, (nearly 3 times the size of an average XP installation.)

Upon installing it, I was unable to run Rise of Nations, a Microsoft game.

Vista is the pinnacle of bloat ware (software that has been really increased in size with few new features. The security popups will drive you to maddening insanity.

With this bloating, it will require an extremely powerful machine, and will consume a large amount of your Ram (I had 2 GB running 3.0MHZ AMD and it was really pushing the limit.

And there is Very limited out of the box hardware support.

XP has much better support for sound cards and modems. Also, some of your driver discs will not work under vista, and you will need to wait (hope) that your hardware manufacturer makes new drivers for vista.

There will be many versions of windows vista, home basic, home premium, business & ultimate, so which do you choose. The answer is none. I implore you, stay away, go back to bed, and let the geeks and torrid computer nuts buy it. Let them pull what’s left of their hair out fiddling and fondling all the bugs and problems they will encounter. Wait at least a year to buy it. Or at least until their third service is pack out!

If you tempted to buy a new PC, order it off the internet with XP installed, you won’t be sorry!

You’ve been warned!

Till next time happy computing!
