Dear Neighbors;

       Hello from Your Chairperson

Dear Neighbors;

May is now upon us. With Mothers day on the 13th and Memorial Day on the 28th we have a busy and memorable month ahead of us.

Each month we try and recap any upcoming holidays paying tribute to the true meaning behind each individual holiday.  If you would like to share your country of birth or specific holiday with us, we encourage you to do so. Our neighborhood is a melting pot of many different cultures and by sharing that information we are all benefiting through the gained knowledge and appreciation of the many different cultures. We ask that you try to keep it factual from an encyclopedia prospective and not based on individual opinion.  Please forward your information to Katie Shepherd at NPBHeights@bellsouth.net.

This past month we enjoyed several events in our neighborhood park. Our Ground Breaking Ceremony was held on Saturday, March 31st followed by our Spring Egg Hunt held on Saturday, April 7th.  We were blessed with a wonderful turn out at both events and we thank each of you for helping to make theses events a true success.  We hope you enjoy the photos and event information as we try and share as much as possible through our website and in the Heights Paper.

There are many more fun filled events still in the works and we encourage each of you to get involved by way of participation, support or hands on help. Our Picnic In The Park is scheduled for Saturday May 19th, 2007.  It begins at 12 Noon.  We’d like to invite neighborhood residents that have a business or do crafts and want to set up a booth to promote their skill or trade to contact us as soon as possible. The cost of space is $25.00. We’d like to ensure the picnics success by asking every business that participates to sponsor a game with prizes for the kids.  Please contact Shannon Krause to sign up and/or additional information about setting up a table for your business.  Our Activities Director, Wilmet Lanier will be happy to assist you with game booth ideas. You can contact him via E-mail or phone. We are still in need of volunteers to help with the organization, set-up and take down as well as additional grills and cooks!  We’d like to thank The North Palm Beach Heights Water Control District for their willingness to help sponsor a bounce house. However we still need volunteers to man it for safety of our children.  This is yet another opportunity for teens to earn those much needed community service hours. Please check out the Activities Calendar in the paper and on the website and make plans now to attend our upcoming neighborhood events.

Thanks to volunteers Kayla Wise, Courtney Wise, JoELL Wise, Katie Shepherd, Brad Shepherd, Ashley Rocco, Kevin Ward, John Orbigoso, Joseph Orbigoso. Oscar Correia, Paula Correia, Stephanie Murphy, Alyssa Murphy, Bridgett Sullivan and Stacey Bastien for helping distribute flyers throughout our neighborhood. This is no easy task and without the help of dedicated volunteers these events would not be possible.  It is people like these that make a difference in the world today and on behalf of the board members of “The Friends of The Heights” we again thank them for the time they have so graciously donated to our community.

There are currently several projects in the works. Your help and support is needed wherever possible:

*      Neighborhood Crime Watch Program – we need people to take a petition around to all of our neighbors to get it signed on every street.  Remember we must have at least 50% of our residents in order to participate in this program.  Please check the website for more details on the program and be sure and fill in the sign up sheet than mail or fax it to the Jupiter Police Department.

*      Lights On Heights Blvd. – we are trying to get the Town of Jupiter to put lights along Abacoa side of Heights Blvd, but we need signatures from our residents that state they support this action.  Our children should not be meeting their buses with out lights. We need people to take this petition around to all neighbors and get signatures.

*      The Friends of The Heights E-Mail Request – if you are interested in receiving e-mails from myself  or other board members with updates, alerts from the Jupiter Police Department, Special events reminders or meeting agendas please e-mail me with your first & last name, street address and e-mail address.  Your e-mail address will only be used by board members for “The Friends of The Heights”.

*      Laborers for building our Entry Way Sign, Donations of Materials and Donations of Money.

*      A welcoming committee, to make sure that all new residents are welcomed and told of all the many special things our neighborhood has to offer.

*      If you can volunteer a few hours please contact me via phone @ (561) 776-4754 or e-mail at ginarealtor@adelphia.net.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:  If you are in need of community service hours for school please don’t hesitate to contact me.

As always please feel free to contact any of our board members with your concerns, questions or suggestions.
